Sterlite Grid to use WRENCH for managing its Rs.40 billion value BOT projects
1-1-2009: Sterlite Grid, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sterlite Technologies (a leading global provider of transmission solutions for the power and telecom industries), chose WRENCH in a bid to meet deadlines and ensure quality on three critical power transmission projects namely East North Interconnection, Bhopal Dhule Transmission and Jabalpur Transmission across India. (http://sterlitetechnologies.com/powerinfrastructure.aspx). The completed systems will evacuate and transmit power through a network of about 2200 km of transmission lines and 2 substations in the states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Bihar, and Assam. These projects are collectively valued at about US$9 Billion (Rs.40 Billion) and were awarded on a Build, Own, Operate, Maintain basis (which means Sterlite will design, finance, construct and maintain the transmission systems for periods ranging from 25 to 35 years). WRENCH will be deployed in 8 weeks’ time to manage, track and monitor the complete lifecycle of the Engineering deliverables of these projects. WRENCH will also be used for monitoring the construction activities in this project. The web-based system will enable real-time progress monitoring of construction activities by capturing the actual quantities entered from the site against the planned qualities.
